I can design and produce items of contemporary and traditional furniture in solid and veneered woods incorporating traditional joints - made to the highest standard of craftsmanship. This ensures all the furniture that I produce will look good and last for future generations. I have exhibited furniture designs in several prestigious craft galleries and exhibitions including Direct Design Show in London and the (first) Best of British Craftsmanship Exhibition in Gloucestershire.

My furniture making career started when, for my degree show at Norwich School of Art in 1984, I produced a range of graphics showing how to make 'pop furniture' including a model 'K6' traditional British telephone kiosk as a chest of drawers (which was part of a range of similar ideas that sealed my destiny to become a self employed artist and craftsman in 1985). Improved technical skills as a maker (helped by doing some part-time work for other local makers) saw me turning to more traditional wood designs as time went on.

Past projects have included items of oak ecclesiastical furniture for Southwell Minster, Notts., a huge 'A' frame traditionally constructed in green oak for the front of Kniveton village hall in Derbyshire, office storage units for the office space of Derby architects Derek Latham & Company and a set of maple refectory tables in the dining hall of the Convent of St Lawrence, Belper. The majority of my work is to be found in private homes throughout the UK and also in the USA. Recently I have been producing a number of small 'Dovetables' of contemporary design - constructed using the very strong traditional dovetail joint, to sell from this website and in the art/craft galleries shown below.
